Only with broad societal engagement can international policies and nationally determined contributions towards environmental and climate protection be met. The pivotal role that communities, civil society, public engagement and wider culture play in bringing about the sweeping societal changes needed are of increasing interest to social scientists, policy makers, and leaders alike. Generating this shift in attitudes and behaviour is central to EFI’s mission. To the best of our knowledge EnviroFest is the only organisation delivering this type of programme.
With 4 years experience running impactful, high profile environmental film festivals in the global south, EFI is well positioned to play its part in bringing about tangible, on the ground shifts in public engagement with climate and environmental issues. Uptake of the EFI programme from international agencies, diplomatic missions, community organisations, and educational institutions is fuelling the growth of EnviroFest in countries on the front line of the environmental and climate crisis.

In order to facilitate our programme expansion into new cities and countries, EnviroFest has created a framework of events that can be used as a template for further festivals.
Our established partnerships with international agencies can also be replicated from one country to the next, bringing long term capacity to raise funds and provide direct access to in-country organisational partners.
